After breakfast we will visit our friends at the SAMAAP museum then we head to the ancient ruins of Panama Viejo where we will hear the history of the first settlement in Panama. As we leave your stomach will be rumbling and the chef will be waiting with a delicious Afro-Caribbean Lunch. Then we head across town to Casco Viejo, a World Heritage Site as part of the Birthday Getaway to Panama tour package. Make sure to get up early and be ready to depart by 8 AM. This will be one of your favorite days of the trip mixing black culture, history, food, and fun. We start off by visiting the town of Colon and then we drive an hour along the upper coast to Portobelo where you will have a chance to see the ancient ruins from the 1500s followed by a Caribbean style lunch and some Congo dancing. After lunch stop to see the Black Jesus before continuing onto Isla Mamey, a small Caribbean Island that will have you going “coconuts”. It’s a long day so bring snacks for the ride.
